Call for Papers: Legal, Economic, and Sociopolitical Studies on Liberland

The Liberland invites submissions for academic papers addressing a wide range of legal, economic, geographic, historical, and sociopolitical topics, with a focus on Liberland’s unique context and international law. This call is open to legal scholars, economists, political scientists, historians, sociologists, and other academics with expertise in the relevant fields.

Topics of Interest

Submissions should focus on, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • International Law and Territorial Disputes
  • Liberland’s Constitutional Development
  • Economic Models for Emerging Nations
  • Geographic and Historical Analysis of Gornja Siga
  • Sovereignty, Self-Determination, and Statehood
  • Sociological Dynamics of Emerging Societies

A full list of suggested topics can be found in this document. Papers outside these suggestions but relevant to Liberland’s context are also encouraged.

Submission Guidelines

  • Deadline for submission: 15 October 2024
  • Paper length: 5,000 to 10,000 words
  • Format: Submissions should follow standard academic formatting and include a title, abstract, main text and references.
  • Eligibility: This call is open to scholars worldwide with a focus on European and international issues. Both junior and senior academics are encouraged to apply.

Review Process

All submissions will undergo a review process conducted by members of the Liberland government alongside a panel of external academics. Selected papers will be published in Liberland’s official legal and academic journal and presented at an international conference hosted by Liberland.

Reward

Authors of three selected papers will receive:

  • Monetary award: 3 000 USD (paid in Liberland Dollar (LLD))
  • Full, political Citizenship of Liberland (Liberland Passport)
  • Invitation to a Liberland conference to present their research
  • Opportunity for publication in an internationally recognized academic journal
